Bayern Munich have propelled an offered to host the Champions League finals in 2021, the Bundesliga goliaths have reported.
Bayern last held the finals in 2012 and achieved the show-stopper just to be beaten by Premier League side Chelsea, who won after a penalty shoot-out.
“I can affirm that Bayern, together with the city of Munich, will formally apply to have the 2021 Champions League last at the Allianz Arena,” said Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“Regardless of the mistake of the annihilation to Chelsea in 2012, despite everything we think back affectionately on the ‘Finale dahoam’ [final at home]. We would be exceptionally appreciative if UEFA gave us the chance to again welcome the football world to Munich.”
Krestovsky Stadium, the home of Russian club Zenit, is the main other contender to have the 2021 Champions League finals, UEFA affirmed.
Seville, Vienna and Tbilisi are the three urban communities offering to be has for the Europa League finals in 2021, while Belfast, Kharkiv, Minsk and Helsinki are in the running for the UEFA Super Cup.
Gothenburg and Prague are wanting to be chosen for the Women’s Champions League finals.
