Ander Herrera has ‘demanded payment of £200,000 per week’ in order to sign a new deal at Manchester United.
The midfielder’s contract expires in the summer and the 29-year-old is currently being tracked by French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who are keen to sign him on a free transfer and have reportedly made an approach for the Spaniard.
According to the Mirror, PSG’s interest has inflated Herrera’s wage demands and he is demanding a massive wage hike from his current £130,000-per-week deal.
United are only willing to offer the former Bilbao midfielder £170,000-per-week, and they are refusing to buckle to the player’s demands.
Herrera is a very popular figure at Old Trafford in part due to his terrier-like defensive discipline at the heart of midfield, winning the player of the year award at the club in 2017.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Herrera a first team regular once again and is eager to avoid losing a player who has become an important asset.
Herrera returned to Premier League action against Watford on Saturday, starting his side’s 2-1 win.
He had missed a handful of games due to a hip problem after United’s draw with Liverpool last month, returning for the FA Cup defeat at Wolves, but before that period he had only failed to feature in one game under Solskjaer.
