Marcus Rashford is closing in on a huge new Manchester United deal that will earn him a stunning £78million.
England striker Rashford is in advanced talks with United over a new five-year contract.
The starlet, 21, has asked to United to give him Wayne Rooney’s old £300,000-a-week terms.
Homegrown hero Rashford wants to stay at Old Trafford and he is now expected to put pen to paper soon.
The deal will see his pay rocket from around £80,000-a-week to the mega money Rooney was on until he left in 2017.
That would earn Rashford more than £15.8m-a-year and £78m over the course of the contract until 2024.
Rashford believes he deserves the sum after helping fill the void left by Rooney for club and country.
He is currently out of contract at the end of next season but United have an option to extend it by 12 months until 2021.
It has alerted some of the world’s top clubs including Real Madrid , who have been monitoring developments.
But Rashford is poised to disappoint Real by pledging his long-term future to the Red Devils.
The new deal will not make him United’s top earner as Alexis Sanchez’s package is worth a staggering £500,000-a-week.
This has complicated all contract negotiations, with keeper David de Gea demanding a rise to over £350,000-a-week with his deal up next summer.
But Rashford’s terms are considered a price worth paying to safeguard arguably United’s biggest and most loyal asset.
He has thrived since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moved him to centre-forward after being mainly deployed on the left side of attack under predecessor Jose Mourinho.
Rashford has since scored nine goals to take his tally to 13 this term.
Rashford netted a crucial last-minute penalty in the previous round of the Champions League at PSG to help set up Wednesday’s quarter-final clash with Barcelona.
Rashford also has six goals in 30 England appearances.
